Just a quick note to say I’m back in the UK with a whole lot of music in my body waiting to be played and recorded. The new website is coming along slowly – I’m hoping to merge in some of the features by the end of the summer!
Who would’ve thought I’m actually enjoying English weather after a couple of months in Italy:-).
I think phoeniximago.com is finally back in one piece now after changing hosts. Still haven’t got the email addresses running again yet but that’s an easy one to fix… The next version of the wordpress theme is coming along nicely so we should have a face lift here sometime in the next couple of months!
Meanwhile I’m off to Italy for a couple of months (volcanoes be damned…) where I’ll do more IT stuff and some writing. When I get back I suspect I’ll be itching to do some music!
Spent most of the last week organising the site transfer from my previous provider to my new one. The new one is both cheaper and much better but it was still quite an exercise! Unfortunately some of the music links still aren’t working… Permalinks are wrong also on the blog. Another couple of days and I should have this sorted out!
The site redesign is coming on well. I’ve noticed this version looks very different on IE (ie worse no pun intended) as to Firefox so I’m going to sort that out. Also it’ll be both simpler but with more functionality ready for the next batch of music that’s coming the next few months. It’ll be nice to put the same attention into the presentation of the music via the website as I have to the music itself.
I’ve got my single Respect finished and available for download. The bonus tracks are really quite interesting and the recording itself is by far the best thing I’ve ever created! I’m going to be contacting some independent labels over the next few months to see if their interesting in funding the next stage (the album…). It cost me 170quid in total to record this single. That included tuning my girlfriend’s parents’ piano and rehearsal and recording of drums. With economies of scale I could record a massive sounding album for very little.
As for 52tochangethworld. I want to carry on but I really want to slow down. I’m doing some really interesting research on deforestation thanks to my girlfriend for getting me into it. The Diigo group has a few links already. I want to take it slowly and do a good job so I’m going to totally ditch the song a week concept and just do them at my own pace.
Not unrelated is my real world situation where I have to make some serious money the next 6 months to stay afloat. As a result I’m doing some IT work… I’ll be improving this site dramatically for my portfolio so Phoenix Imago will reap the benefits in a way! Besides after all the music I’ve been doing lately I’m enjoying a bit of coding again for a change.
I’m now looking for a bassist or maybe a percussionist to do some guerilla gigs around London. Having said that I’m still not sure whether I want my musical base in terms of labels/musicians/gigs to be Italy or UK. Maybe both? I guess maybe I’ll try both and see what happens over this summer.
