Someone I Can Be Alone With

This song was inspired a bit by the TV series Dexter. I've spent a lot of my life 'hiding in plain sight'. This was a sort of prayer that I might eventually find people I felt comfortable being myself around. Troublesome though my demons are they're thankfully not as bad as Dexter Morgan's...

And yes, I did write every note, sing & play all the instruments on this recording. Then it was mixed & mastered with more than a touch of genius by Steve Lewis.

Some days I get the feeling, people wastin' my time:
all they seem to desire is to put their own petty spin on what's mine.
Then I have to pretend if I want to defend,
my beautiful pain from their fear and distain.
What I wouldn't give just to let my guard down one time...

Someone I Can be Alone With...

You might say I like my own company a little more than I should.
But the fact is for what ails me when I'm down, people never been any good.
I long gave up hoping, you could be real:
another human being who's alright by how I feel,
let alone dreaming you, could ever be mine...
